A Refresher on the Rules.

Welcome to Norsekink. We know we have a lot of new members coming in, and it's been suggested that we do a refresher course on the rules. As most of you know, the rules are posted consistently in two places: they're in each prompt post we put up, and they're in a sticky at the top of the comm. But for those of you who haven't seen the sticky and ( Read more... )

With respect, you still need to make a ruling about offensive prompts. By offensive I mean stuff that is *not* covered by your kink is not my kink. I accept your point that we don't need a sixty comment strong thread, fine, let the mods deal with it, but we do need a declaration that some stuff is not cool.

Appropriating real life tragedies is not cool. Comparing villains to real life victims is not cool. As a mod team you need to say so, and then say that you will deal with it once reported, thus avoiding the wank spiral situation.

I'm not sure I entirely understand what you mean by appropriative language (spell check doesn't think it's a word? :). Can you give an example?

Appropriative language and scenarios, with regards to this rule, generally means taking terminology, imagery, practices, or other cultural artifacts that belong to an oppressed or minority group and using it for purposes that lessens or disregards the impact it has on that group, especially when done by a privileged person or majority group member. For instance, a white person with no First Nations/Native ties wearing a war bonnet, or a straight person using queer terms for themselves, especially if they are pejoratives ( ... )

Hi, I'm very new to this; read a couple of stories (many thanks to the talented authors), but not a part of the community.
There are some terms I'm not sure I understand. What is an OP? Original poster? The person who put up a prompt?
What do you mean by "memes"? Different LJ communities?
Most importantly, who is allowed to issue prompts? Mods only, or anybody? If anybody, are there limits, such as only after writing something yourself, and/or only putting up a new one after the last one was filled? Any specifications about prompt content (does it have to be smut?)?
Thanks for answers.

When its stated do not repost prompts does that mean don't repost your own or any prompt? Like, do I need to search for a prompt idea to see if someone else posted it first?
Thanks
