I was visiting my mom in G'boro and we went Thursday to NSC&Z. Haven't been there in oh, almost 20 years. :( Two months ago they had their Grand reopening and boy, what a change. Did you see the maned wolves? I love them!! It was a huge deal for the NSC to get those. There are less than 100 in the US and these will be part of a breeding program. I'm also crazy about Thurston the howler monkey.

The director of the NSC is a friend of mine. I'll tell him the Center was being praised on LJ. He'll be thrilled. :-)

The Maned Wolves had not been brought into the zoo last summer. Their compound was in the planning stages at the time. And for them to be part of the breeding program is going to be a blessing for their species.

Thurston was quiet the day I went through, but we can hear him up at my mom's house, only a couple miles at the most from the center. Jambi the Gibbon was great entertainment. She was delightful to watch as she moved around her and Beau's compound. Have they gotten better acquainted? Last year he ignored her to no end. :)

The growth of the Nature Center is a valuable contribution to the wildlife of the world and hopefully will continue to grow. The more word spread, the better. :)

I'm hoping to be able to go back up later this summer or early fall and drag my teenager along.
