Do We Know Its Christmas Time At All?

Dec 11, 2006 01:59

I just had a conversation with my adopted little bro The Rev on msn.

He hates Xmas. He called it a stupid christian festival. Now as most of you know, the celebration of winter and the preparation for the cold months goes way way further back than the bloody christian faith. I'd kill him for his stupidity if he wasnt such a lovely lil bloke ( Read more... )

That's exactly how I feel about our government. We have such problems in the US including immigration but yet we are overseas spending time, money, and lives.

If every country simply closed its borders and spent time sorting itself out then we'd all be a LOT better off. For one people would learn to appreciate a holiday in their own country. And a lot more patriotism and unity would be worked out. instead of immigrants every other smegging day trying to claim we're abusing them for not giving them enough money/jobs/credit/sex/gay marriges... NYARGH!

Yes but that would mean actually doing something useful, and I dont think they could cope with that. Have you seen that bit in Family Guy where Peter is trapped on a desert Island with Bono who says he's saving the huge crate of food with them for the starving children and then eats it? Thats EXACTLY how I think of Bono everytime his name is mentioned. Wanker.

the economic deprivation of Africa is in many ways our fault because of rampant European colonialism, we divided the continent up along material wealth and skirmish lines rather than the more natural state of tribes, nation states and people who share the same cultural identity ( ... )

The minerals didn't suddenly dissapear because we pulled out. Take for example Congo (ex Zaire). It is one of the richest countries of Africa in terms of mineral sources. Yet the country is bankrupt, just like most of the African countries.

I couldn't agree more with you that the colonisation was a big mistake, but lets not forget that tribal wars existed in Afrika long before the white men arrived. For example, the rise of the Zulus was paved in bloody wars. I can see much validity in the point that efforts like this are a waterdrop on a hot plate, as long as you dont put out the fire heating up the thing all actions are useless. What is needed is a change of mentality in the people themselves and this can only happen if the take the initiative themselves, there are enough examples in the world that make us realise that. We all have seen the horrible consequences of communism and dictatorship in general enough to realise that change must come from within the people not towards the people.

Theres only one reason why liberal and democratic governments let in the hordes of losers and spoil their very own nests, and thats because of short-termed short-sighted greed from their own part. Immigrants are cheap labor and help them corrode the established social structure, so the the native people stand weaker.
