[In preparing to fight Falkner (though really, he doubts he'll need that much preparation after he soundly beat Jasmine in Olivine), L is dropping by Violet's pokemon center fairly frequently these days. Not least of all among his reasons is the fact that he is, himself, waiting on an egg to hatch. Possibly even the one that Sheryl was inquiring about.]

Hello... I'm here to check on my Rotom egg, and also to heal my Drifloon.

[His Drifloon trails behind him, looking... actually pretty beat-up. It makes sounds like sniffles every now and then.]

[ she pauses from moving on to the next pokémon she needs to check up on, walking back towards the reception desk. ]

Hi!

[ sheryl listens for a while then peers behind him, watching the drifloon with a slight smile. she holds out her hands to it, cupping it so that she could catch it and hand it over to nurse joy in the next room. ]

Let me find that Rotom egg for you while Joy takes care of your Drifloon. What does it look like?

[The Drifloon continues to sniffle as Nurse Joy takes him back to heal him; he looks like he's taken electric damage, actually, and he seems fairly shaken.]

It's a warm red-orange color, with teal spots. I'm told it'll hatch within the next week.

[ a blink and then -- ]

Ah! That egg then. Wait here!

[ she leaves for the back room of the pokécenter, returning after a few minutes with said red-orange egg in her arms. she pauses every now and then, shifting the weight so as to keep it balanced. she doesn't want to drop it after all. ]

This is the one, isn't it?

It's a part-time job. There isn't much to do around here and I get bored fast.

That's one way to put your talents to use.

Have you thought about street performances?

It's surprising, but they do. All of them, too -- even mammals.

Really? That's the first I've heard of that.

I mean, I thought only penguins and sea serpents and their kids do. [ thanks a lot, ted. ]

Singing the tired Pokemon to sleep?

Mmhmm, just to help them sleep better. Music soothes the soul after all.

Singing to the tired Pokemon, are you...

I hear animals relax and calm down more when there's music. So Joy and I thought that my singing might help.

It's really effective, I have to say. Even the stubborn and unruly ones manage to mellow down enough for Joy to take care of them.
