If you had a pre-approval, contact the bank and see if they will give you an extension to the pre-approval for a few months. They are sometimes willing to give you time to find new employment, especially if the rest of the upfront work is done (thus the preapproval). They may be willing to do so even without the preapproval, given the economy.
