could not agree more kjs!!! Rae and I were talking and think we should plan more trips like that together (though perhaps a bit smaller-- as in less far away)-- like the AT or the east coast.
PS: what are you doing for labor day??? maybe camping???
http://www.rivercanyonadventures.com/index.html PS: this in Chattanooga. Could be a labor day weekend thing, could also just be a "some weekend" thing, since it's so close and my parents just happen to live there.
I have no labor day plans at the moment, so that'd be great. If I could rent from the University, I could get really cheap equipment, though it may be tough for kayaks, and for anything during labor day..
btw: Jonathan was talking about taking a tour of Atlanta and Nashville (among some other ideas, not sure when)... I mentioned some of the places I know, any other ideas? He was wanting to see American art, and was disappointed by the European stuff he saw in DC museums.
I will call the place tomorrow and see if labor day weekend is a possibility-- also maybe some specs for kayaks. River kayaks vs touring kayaks will have a big difference in storage capacity.
HHHMMmmmmmm... well, I would suggest to Jonathan to check out Williams American Art Galleries on Hillsboro Pike in Nashville for 20th C american art. If he is looking for more local, contemporary work, then I would say to go to the Arcade Building in downtown Nashville-- The whole building has an upper track that has access to maybe 12-15 smaller, stylized art galleries-- everything from textiles to contemporary abstracts to portraiture. Definitely worth a look!!
