The days just seem to flow by like a river; moving ever faster. I had intended to make several entries this month but time seems to just get away from me. Oh well. Let see about providing a quick synopsis of the month

You don't have Kung Fu season two yet? Get out there and get moviing.
So tell me about your barcode reader. How much did it cost? Does it work with a mac? I've been thinking about going the barcode reader route for a few years now and I'm teetering. I have a serious sense of organization envy right now.

The bar-code reader come from a company called Intelli Innovations Inc. http://www.intellisw.com/ The system I purchased was moderately expensive ($250.00) but also contained software for media collections, general asset tracking, a utility for preparing items for sale on-line, and even a wine collection database. I've only used the media package as yet (one Herculean task at a time thank you), but will eventually get to the others as well. They have USB and Blue-tooth readers, and the software runs on either MAC or Windows. It is making what was once an impossible task, that I had started and failed at several times before, seem attainable!
As for Origins, we aren't certain yet. We are planning on a week at a beach house on the lake this summer and Origins will depend on how the financing works out. Don't worry, as soon as we know I'll post it to the journal.

So I"m looking at the page and it looks really really good. If you were going to buy it today would you get the USB scanner again or the bluetooth? Is it annoying to have the cord along? I've done lots of scanning in the school library and we use a cordless device there.
Can the scanner read into other programs? It said something somewhere on the page about filemaker but then I lost the comment and I don't know. I'm dying here, I want this toy badly and YESTERDAY!!
I'm also wondering if I really need the home asset tracking program cause that's the only one besides the media tracker that I really need. I'm quite certain I'll never use the wine or auction software. If I buy the bundle including the home asset tracker I can foresee having to spend 80's of dollars on barcode stickers to put on all my stuff which could get tiresome.

Thought of another question.... It appears that if I buy the bluetooth reader with just the media package it will cost 279 bucks (179 with usb) then I can add home asset for 80 bucks and it includes 500 of those labels (a 80 value) so effectively I end up with the two programs that I want for about 10 more dollars than the big bundle but with 500 labels which would cost me a lot more than 10 bucks to order seperately.
Did your bundle come with any labels? Don't know if I need 500 but I suspect if I start having fun with bar codes I might actually run amok!
