I just picked up a course packet from York Copy and realized that I didn't check the double-sided option. This pisses me off greatly. I've used twice as much paper as I should have, and the stupid packet is now twice as large as it should have been, which means that a) it weighs more and b) it will take up more space than it would otherwise. Why don't they just do it two-sided automatically? I mean, it's not *that* much extra work, and it saves them paper. Even worse is Tyco, where they don't ask but just give you one- or two-sided randomly. I got two-sided in my Russian packet, but others in the class weren't so lucky...

Yeah, I never understood that either. If I ran a copy place I'd do all course packets double-sided unless requested otherwise. It's not any more strenuous for the employees -- I'm sure it's all automated -- and like you say it saves them money for paper.
