Forgiveness.

[Hello, fellow Vatheonites. Jacob hasn't spoken to you in a while. He gazes at the camera with pensive eyes, pausing before continuing to speak.]

Forgiveness is a rather complicated subject. Everyone knows what forgiveness is, but when it comes to actually thinking about how to use it in a situation, there are no clear rules about it.

It's unforgivable.

[But that was her opinion of it. Murder was never on the 'oh, that can totally go over my head later' list for her. It was a scary thing.]

That's an understandable response. Death is something not to be taken lightly in any circumstances.

I always give people a second chance. Yes, they need to understand that what they did is wrong. But I don't think anybody is truly evil.

I never said anyone was really evil.

[There's a tiny pause.]

But what if someone in your family's just killed your mum, and you were really close to them? What then, Jacob?

[His eyes narrow suddenly, and he looks away- that question was rather personal. That's exactly what happened back on the island, when he was still a hotheaded man bent n doing everything he could to keep himself happy.]

...I would punish them. But I would never hurt or kill them. Just make them realize that what they did was something not to be taken lightly.

You'd still be around them? Knowing they could kill you?

[Never mind that they couldn't hurt or kill each other, even if those metaphysical rules weren't there...he would have stayed. Maybe. It was hard, looking back on his past self, who was almost a different man entirely than the one he was today.]
