I got it, but it didn't make me sad. It actually made me feel like that's a sign of some life. At MJ last month I got pimped into Tumblr, but I'm still gonna prefer LJ because extensive conversations.
Yeah, I still don't really get Tumblr. It just doesn't seem to have the same community-building feature as LJ, because you really can't have those extensive multi-thread conversations. (Or maybe you can? IDK).
I haven't seen many stories where websites are landscapes (as opposed to tools or gimmicks); I've got the feeling that LJ is beginning to look positively Ballardian.
I find this terribly ironic, since LJ and it's various owners (with the exception of Brad) did their best to undermine and get rid of fandom, refusing to acknowledge just how much content fandom generated. Now fandom HAS left. They got their wish.
I've not been super fannish lately, and when I am I've been hiding over at DW, mostly, because, as pir8fancier pointed out, LJ's been kind of jerking people around.
I don't understand the appeal of tumblr, either. I mean, it's great for disseminating pretty pictures, but I can never keep track of who said what, or which post was the start and if it got re-posted or re-blogged, or, ugh, I just get dizzy. :P

I got a tumblr account a few weeks ago so I could preserve ("reblog") an audio compilation of every time Kowalski has ever spoken a sentence that contains the phrase "come on, Fraser". *g*

I cannot even put into words the feels when a ballroom full of about 100 fen all sang Barrett's Privateers together!
