Really lost the inspiration for this, but going to half ass it anyways.
First off, new podcast pimping: Stop Podcasting Yourself. It's canadian, so right off the bat you know at the very least, you can laugh at their silly accents. It's absolutely hilarious, though. You know the random discussions that occur on more "themed" podcasts, that are always the best part? It's strictly that for an hour+. I think they're a bunch of stand up comics? It made me laugh like a maniac in public for almost the entire time I was listening.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (No, I don't know how it's pronounced) dropped a few days ago. I knew it was going to be bad but... not quite this bad. It's awful DS-3D interpretations of the same areas you've played through in KH2. Each area is... about 3-4 rooms, which are massively tiny. You'd almost think they were randomly generated. You'll realize they aren't as you're running through them for the 20th time in a row.
I'm about four hours in, I really doubt I'm going to see this one through. So far it's been four hours of "Hunt This Heartless!!" missions, and scenes of Axel and Roxas eating sea salt ice cream. I am not exaggerating when I say there has been at least ten scenes with Roxas sitting on the clocktower, eating sea salt ice cream.
They're starting to introduce other mission types, but they're even more bland than the hunting ones. The two I can think of are Investigation and EmblemHunt (orsomeshit). Investigation is just walking around "talking" to objects (sometimes walls) of the same tiny, shitty areas you've been running through the entire game. EmblemHunt is grabbing emblems in those tiny, shitty areas.
The best part? They have unique combos for at least half of the organization members. Can you opt to play them instead of Roxas in the forced co-op (single player, AI buddy)? Of course not. That's saved for the multiplayer, that absolutely fucking no one will ever touch. I gave this game way more of a chance than it deserved. If you are not a rabid Kingdom Hearts fan, actually go out and set every copy of this game you see on fire.
Ended up buying Mario and Luigi 3. I figured if they were going to put that much of an effort into anti-piracy, I'd give them my money. Translation: I didn't want to wait two weeks for a CycloDS to ship.
I really want to like it more than I am. I think I'm burnt out on the series. It's in an awkward position. It seems like the perfect game for kids, but it's really anything but. The timing required for a lot of the minigames / boss dodging is haaard. My biggest gripe is that it feels like I've played it two times already. They introduce a lot of new gameplay aspects, but it doesn't feel fresh enough. I should really put KH down and play this, but I just love having something to complain about.
And then there's the Super Street Fighter IV news, which I'm sure everyone who cares already knows. I'm pretty god damn excited. Juri is a hideous character, but hopefully will be interesting to play.
God, I've fucking missed winter. Well, until it gets stupid-cold, anyways.
