Some things money can't buy

The contest is closed, but I finally came up with an idea.

young woman's voice:
"textbooks..." she's at the counter with books, mom walks up from behind her with more and thunks them on the counter "...$800"
"matching backpacks..." mom pulls a backpack out of a shopping bag, kid makes a face and pulls out the same one, mom facepalms "...$150 ( Read more... )

happy thoughts, school, cool stuff

Pooh getting excited about positive changes in her life...priceless!

Indeed :).

I'm still waffling between excited and "what the hell was I thinking," but I think it's a good thing. When I get overwhelmed, remind me that I'm doing a lot and if it's too much, next time I try it with fewer classes.

Tee-hee!

BTW, you can get REALLY GOOD (better than the usual Dell/Gateway/Compaq
garbage) laptops for a lot less.

Yeah, that was a huge estimate. Even the 2.76 pound Sony I fell in love with is only $2200 :). Dell=garbage? What would you recommend instead?

Heard about the largest EVER flaming battery recall? Yep, Dell.
You also can't charge their flaming batteries with third party
adaptors, because Dell intentionally disabled this.

These days, Apple is your best bang for the buck for laptops. And
they have the advantage that you can run MacOS too if you like,
at the same time as DOS, even. Sony and Lenovo are also nice.
The best in the world are, of course, AlienWare, but those are
even more expensive than your huge estimate.

Saw them very briefly a couple of years ago (I think?) at The Vatican Drachenschloss.
