Nighttime Thundershowers

On the edge of dramatic cold front, a violent thundershower rolled in late last night. I had my TV and computer unplugged to avoid possible damage and was forced to get some fresh air by watching the light show outside. (Oh no!) Wow. Where did you say you live again? Having the dark trees against a lit up sky makes for a very cool look! (Even with tweaking to see the bolts, it makes things look even more vivid.) Nature provides the best special effects. ^_-

I live in Colorado near the front range. We usually get the piddly little clouds that only turn into giant behemoths once they get to Kansas.

I loved the purple in the top pic! (which was not tweaked) I don't know if it was the combination of low clouds and high clouds or if it was just the lightning itself, but the color is amazing. I love how it fades to a bluer tint near the top of the picture.

Nature does in fact, provide the best special effects. I'd take a storm like this over a fireworks display any day!

We don't get thunder and lightning very often in Washington either, but they certainly are impressive! Colorado is very scenic anyway...even if the giant rocks jutting out of the landscape as I rode down the twisting highway did make me feel ill...

Thanks so much for taking the chance to grab these shots! I have to literally run out the door, but they'd make excellent desktops!
