Leap day

Yesterday the first thing on my calendar was a meeting downtown, so from home I took the bus with the briefcase toting professional types instead of the bus with the backpack toting college students. It was a glorious, sunny, almost spring-like morning, and I was in a good mood.

I've often thought similar thoughts (though not nearly as articulately) whenever people complain about those who "gawk" at a car accident or a fire or other disaster. It would be sad indeed if we all were so immune to tragedy that we went about our business without a second thought.
