9th Fight

Barton's in the park today. This isn't unusual, generally, except for two things. One, there's a dog with her. A German Shepard to be exact. It looks friendly and playful, and it's also blue. Yep, totally blue. The other odd things is, that to people who know her, Barton is smiling and obviously enjoying playing with her new pet. The dog ( Read more... )

[That is a dog.]

[And it is blue.]

[Lancer has found his spirit animal. 8|]

[So he'll just be watching with a slightly goofy smile on his face.]

Nah, not really. Guess I was just interested by your little friend there.

Oh. I just got him the other day. Someone in town made him with magic, if ya can believe that.

[It's...it's a doggeh.

Mika, who is usually immune to canine charms, has to smile at seeing them playing together. While she doesn't know either of them, it's a very refreshing sight. Huffing in amusement, she leans on her cane as she watches them, her tail wagging.]

[The ball bounces off a tree, and rolls Mika's way. There's a big blue dog coming your way. WHAT DO.]

[ > Scoop up ball and throw it as hard as she can!

Obviously this is the best answer.

She even tries to send it back Barton's way, the hint of a grin making her fangs glint.]

Well? Go get it!

[The dog gleefully chases after, and brings the ball back to Barton. She looks up at Mika and nods.]

Thanks.

[Hawke is playing fetch with her own doggie! Except she's not doing it with a ball or a stick -- the dog seems to prefer what seems to be the leg of a coffee table instead.

She spots Barton out of the corner of her eye. Hey, cool, another dog lover! She tosses the table leg for her hound to retrieve, then turns to watch the other woman, impressed with her throw.]

Good arm you've got there.

[the dog brings the ball back to Barton, who looks up at Hawke. She smirks a little.]

I can throw pretty good, but I am cheatin' a little today.

[She tosses the ball up a few inches, and it hovers above her hand. Her pooch looks excited, so she grabs it again, and throws it.]

A mage? I should have known. Cheaters, the lot of you.

[Her own doggie returns with the table leg, which she takes from him before scratching his ears. As she does so, she watches Barton's dog go off, squinting.]

Your dog is blue.

Psychic, actually. Haven't been a mage in a long time. He seems to like the challenge of it goin' real far though.

Yeah. Someone made him with magic. Never know what you'll find in this town.

...That's a table leg.

[Mao, having just finished practicing with his sword, is now watching Barton and her dog with an interested expression on his face.

It's quickly wiped off when the ball hits him. On the head.]

Watch where you're throwing that!

[Erk. Well, it's not heavy, at least.]

Ya oughta pay more attention. Didn't see ya there.

[The big dog bounds over though, picks up the ball and brings it over to Mao. Surely he wants to play too!]

Hmph. Like I wasn't so obvious.

[He wasn't, exactly. He gives the dog a wary glance before leaning against a tree.]

Anyway, what are you doing here?

Teachin' him how to play fetch. Seems pretty good at it already.

[He throws the ball off again, propelling it far, and the dog happily chases after.]

Nice... dog... girl.

[Oh Buffy, why you sound so unsure?]

Certainly breaks the monotony of this place. Always a good thing.

[She had gone out for a jog but staring at the blue dog was much more interesting.]

Sure stands out in a crowd, don't he. A blue dog ain't what I had in mind, but he's good anyway.

Looks like a loyal dog too, so the color is really not important.

Does he have a name?

That's kinda what I was thinkin'.

Um. Buster. My brother had a dog named that, a long time ago.
