[a): Barton is sitting out in her yard today on Stone Street, enjoying the weather and putting together an Erector set. The drone workers at the department store kept trying to tell her it was a toy for boys, so she ended up stealing it when they weren't looking ( Read more... )

[ Walking home was starting to become a chore, he kept going down the wrong streets. ]

What the- [ But then again it offered some cool experiences, considering he'd never seen anything like floating ferris wheel parts outside of a comic book. ]

Holy hell how is it doing that?? [ Also manners, not his strong point. ]

[She fumbles with the part she was using at Rin's sudden exclamation. She frowns, but this was part of the reason she was doing this outside - to see if she could work through distractions.]

I'm doing that.

Really?? You're able to move these things without your hands? Like an esper??

[ He'll be poking one of the floating pieces. ]

[She's not familiar with that term.] It's called telekinesis.

[ Firo can only stomach so much of his dreary Mayfield job at a time, so today he's decided to take the day off. While wandering through the streets he spots Barton hard at work.

He stops to say high, but finds himself just staring in amazement for a few moments. Even though she mentioned having telekinesis, seeing it in action is still surprising. ]

...Wow.

[Barton looks up, blinking, and the parts freeze in place.

Oh, it's just Firo.]

Oh, hey.

[ He manages to break his eyes away from the floating pieces and grins at her. ]

Hey. That's really amazin'.

[She shrugs a little.] Just practicin', really. Figured this would be easy.

No idea.

It all sounds kind of silly either way, though -- I mean, does anyone besides the drones even really consider Mayfield their home? Homegoing would be way better, if you ask me.

Can't argue with that. [Barton's not great at reading, but she scans the posters anyway.]

Homecoming... dance? Oh, great.

Eh? Is that all it is?

I think I can live with that. [ dancing is one of the few things that seychelles would actually consider a talent of hers. ] Oh, but does that mean that we have to find a date or something…? [ she furrows her eyebrows as she joins her not-sister in surveying the posters ]

I guess. This town has a lot of parties 'n' stuff. I guess this means those nerdy drone boys will be asking me to it, like with the prom. [Froooown.]

[ He would be sorely remiss not to notice this going on and make the approach. ]

You're not bad at all.

[She looks up, pieces of metal pausing in front of her when she does. She recognizes the voice.]

Ya think so? [It's said in her usual monotne, but it's an honest question.]

[ Likewise, Cable gets the hint on voice recognition, and resolves to put on his generally-friendly face. ] Absolutely. I'd say you're a natural, but I expect that might just be a given.

Had a long time to practice, even if it's been awhile. [She resumes moving the parts around now.]

It's a dance. Usually, the kids in town take over and make it sort of like a party for everyone.

Another one? Didn't we just have one a few months ago?

It seems like there's one at the beginning of the year and then at the end. It makes sense, I guess.

Oh, for the school year, right.

Well, I guess I ain't interested anyway. This school needs to come up with something more fun to do.
