Action A: People around Mayfield may find things missing from their garages today. Since Barton doesn't have much money thanks to her volunteer "job", and the fact that being a girl (even if she doesn't look much like one) makes getting stuff from the hardware store difficult, she's decided to take things from around the neighborhood

[At the sound of the voice in her garage (she was coming to get the extra soda, sheesh), Chane doubles back, loudly unsheathing one of the knives on her person, which she hoped would serve as a warning in place of her voice.]

[Really? A knife? It takes a lot to frighten Barton, and that won't do it. When she speaks, it's mostly flat, but mildly exasperated.]

No need for that. I ain't here to kill ya.

[Chane takes a few steps forward, knife still in her hand, but lowered. She gives Barton a very questioning look.]

'M just lookin' for stuff. I figure, it's Mayfield, people's stuff don't really belong to anyone, right?

[Soul was on his way out, but that quiet little "hey" gets his attention. He looks over his shoulder and turns around, giving Barton a wave]

Hey. Um. I'm lookin' for some stuff. Like spare scrap metal 'n' tools. I know it ain't easy to find 'round here, but I thought I'd ask.

[he rubs the back of his neck in thought as he looks around the garage]

I don't think anyone is going to miss a few tools. No idea where they are though.

[he nods his head, motioning for Barton to come look with him.]

What d'you need them for anyway?

[She follows.] Just buildin' stuff. Hardware store won't let me buy stuff, not that I got much money anyway.

(Engie decided to just check on Barton, just to see how he was going on with his project. So after work, you'll see Engie at Barton's house. With the garage door open, it's easy to spot all the bits of metal and wood lying around.)

Collected it from around town, mostly. Wasn't easy, though.

Well, I figure, stuff in Mayfield like that ain't really anybody's. It's just here when people show up. I'd just buy it but my job doesn't pay me.
