We put in the last 3/4 of the dock this afternoon. We have a new trick, where we are using a new plan of screwing in the ends of the long segment rather than just having feet that sit on the bottom. Hopefully this will make it so that we will have less destruction by windstorms when we have only the partial dock installed. It takes a little longer ( Read more... )

My boat died a while ago. It has a lot of problems - the motor is dead, and the flooring is starting to rot , and there's some rub rail on the outside which is peeling off, and it just needs a lot of work. And it's a 50-year-old hull.

Got the 2nd shot yesterday. Sore arm, and really tired today. But, earlier trip exhaustion maybe playing into the tired, too. Though, yesterday I was pretty chipper.

As earlier mentioned I've been using a fitbit recently. So I took it on the trip. Two fun facts:

When I'm at altitude, my heart races a bit. Always has; I suppose if I lived in Denver it would abate after a while (though 5000 feet isn't enough, it needs to be more like 8000). So, the fitbit measures your heartrate. It didn't have a clue but it ( Read more... )

To visit my dysfunctional family. No new disasters, just ongoing interpersonal issues. I'll be there for my mom's next neurology appointment, so that's nice. I'm half vaccinated. Jocelyn is symptom-free from Covid, and it's been 10 days since her positive test, so she is free to travel according to the CDC. Things are interpersonally challenged in San Diego with the Circus Center and her roommates and so forth, and she decided not to stick around for the last 4-6 weeks of the program. Apparently the people at the Circus Center she's been training with are loose about infection control. From her discussion of behavior of her housemates and others at the center, it has always seemed a little dicey, safety wise, and apparently it was. 1st Pfizer shot down, 2nd scheduled. Having a 5-week gap because of planned CA trip. I don't want a potential fever at the airport, so I'm delaying until after my return. This confused bureaucrats but they coped. I figured this is what they're doing in Europe as a matter of course, so it must be okay.

So I had been pretty happy with how Jetty was responding to the new food - her bowel movements were improved, and she was happily eating it. There was one day where she didn't eat (Tuesday or Wednesday), but she had done that one time before, and chow down the next day.
