I thought World Painted Brown was worse than The Eternal. Neither Hannemann nor King can write good riffs anymore. It's strusfratin'!

I think I've heard each song once, not really paying attention, mixed in with other stuff; I was underwhelmed by what I heard, but it wasn't making me ANGRY the way evey track on The Eternal did...
I'm reserving judgment until I actually sit down and listen to the damn thing straight through.

Really? I think WPB is the best thing they've done since SOUTH OF HEAVEN. I will admit that you have to listen to it several times before it starts to make sense -- there's some wacky shit going on in some of those tunes. But the more you listen, the better it gets. Try it again and see it doesn't grow on you.

As for Sonic Youth: ugh. Like I told N. on Facebook, I haven't liked anything of theirs since DAYDREAM NATION, and even then I only liked about three songs (a bad average for a double-album).

Where? I didn't hear wackiness, I heard generic bullcrap.
