I agree with you on most of this, but I have some trouble with your take on ethics. I would frame the problem as follows: all ideas proceed, ultimately, from unverifiable assumptions. This is true of induction, and even deduction itself. Fortuitously, because our unverifiable assumptions as to the validity of deduction and induction work, we are under no obligation to give a damn. If I state "the sun will come up tomorrow," very few people will doubt my word, and even those who do will likely do so more out of a sense of intellectual obligation than any belief in a meaningful probability of the sun going out between now and then. However, this reliance on unverifiable assumptions gets a lot more troublesome when we get into prescriptive, rather than descriptive statements

I always come to the end of one of your long posts and feel sad that I haven't written anything as epic in my own journal so far. But I liked this one; it stretched my thought processes a little. In a good way.

Also "grue" and "bleen" are totally awesome invented words.
