I especially like the way they are holding each other (Erik holding Charles, Charles holding himself) in the third panel, very emotive, and very striking with the focus on their body language while the eyes are hidden.

These are so emotion-packed! I love the monochromatic effect too. Very simple and effective.

Thank you, I'm glad you found them so! I was actually trying to imitate a charcoal reversal by erasing out the paint layers in photoshop, and I like the effect that I achieved.
