Dream § 8 [Public] Character update 1 : Insipid poison

Jun 24, 2009 02:03

She is looking at her life through a mirror. The images seemed to be mixed and as she leaned closer to the reflective glass, Estelle feels herself being pulled in.

She is at the foot of the tower hidden in sand, the last thing she remembers from her world. The moment she touches the stones, the tower seems to crumble slightly and she’s now on the balcony of some of its numerous levels, watching as Yuri presents Judith to her friends. She smiles, taking a step forward, wanting to tell the blue haired woman how happy she is to finally know where they met. But the stones turn to sand and Estelle finds herself fighting against a round, gray haired man. Of course, he is soon overwhelmed by her group of friends and she can only think of offering him to surrender. She can only gasps as the man takes a step back, willingly falling off the tower instead of paying for his crimes.

She runs to look down the abyss but a burning scent forces her to look up. All around her, Dahngrest is burning. There’s a ship on the horizon but it is the cry of a monster that gains Estelle’s attention. She looked up at the terrible flying beast, her eyes widening at its words:

"The insipid poison of this world must die…"

There’s an explosion and all she can see now is Yuri’s offered hand, his rare, honest smile as inviting as ever. She takes his hand, knowing that her journey can’t end now; she needs to know what the monster meant about her. She hears someone shout her name and she looks back, meeting Flynn’s disappointed look from across the collapse bridge. She feels like she has many things to tell him, but already the scene is changing and her voice is lost within hundreds of cheering shouts of a coliseum. Estelle stands up as she watches Yuri and Flynn fight against each other. But this time there is no winner as the coliseum fills up with monsters and already the guild protecting her, Brave Vesperia, is fighting back, as well as her.

The cloud of dust in the coliseum settles down and the princess finds herself in the middle of the desert. The hot air is suffocating and she can hear Rita’s complains and, strangely enough, Mr Raven’s happy and energetic comments. There’s a couple now with them and it is easy for Estelle to see that they are villagers. They finally make it to the village and watches as a lilac haired man round up villagers to force into the desert. Estelle frowns as she recognizes the colors of the man’s uniform: he is the captain of his own Brigade: Cumore. She sighs in relief as she watches the slave wagon falls into pieces, closing her eyes momentarily to thank her friends.

When she reopens them, night has fallen and she can hear Yuri and Flynn discuss not too far from her. She feels her heart break as she learns that the purple haired man has taken the law into his own hands. She knows the blond knight tries his best to serve justice and when she is faced with a decision she can’t take, she only fears that a life long friendship will end with one friend putting the other in jail.

"Aren’t you afraid I will turn my blade on you one day?"

Yuri’s words sting her, though what she tells him is the only truth in her heart:

"If you do, then I will have given you a good reason for it…"

Estelle feels her dream spiraling out of control for a moment and she now faces another monster, her friends close around her. This time, the monster has a name, Belius, and has very honorable and soft heart. The creature, an Entelexia, calls her 'Child of the Full Moon' and all Estelle can do is frown, not understanding how she can be related to an old legend. But before the venerable female can explain herself, old enemies attack and tragedy strikes: Estelle watches in horror as her healing attempt on Belius hurts her furthermore, turning the gentle soul into a real monster, one that pleads for its death during small bouts of sanity.

When the light touches the coliseum floor again, Estelle is kneeling, curled over, holding a crystal in her arms, the last momento of the great Duce of Nordopolica, her sobs the only sound echoing through the stadium.

[Wakes up, curled like in her dream, but on her side, her back to her Dreamberry. The only proof that she’s awake is her shoulders shaking as she sobs silently]
