[Well, it's at least relatively calm despite that shitty shift earlier. Which means he can go right back to helping with decorating the Great One Church for the festivities. If you guys wanna stop in and wish to the altar for the usual Great One blessings (there's always that fesitval traffic flood, around this time, man), come on in! ( Read more... )

[ No worries, dad, Smellerbee's got your back with the church-decorating today, odd little spider-monkey-girl that she tends to be.

Maybe the huge festivities thing isn't her cup of tea, but as far as she's concerned, there's really no reason to wind up ruining it for anybody else. If people have an excuse to be cheery, let 'em.

Besides, decorating can still be fun :| ]

[A normal dad would say 'OMG HONEY DON'T SCALE THE CHURCH YOU'LL HURT YOURSELF'. But this is not one of those dads; hey, if your little angel's a nimble tomboy, you let her be a nimble tomboy. He leans in on the post while she's at work for some teasing.]

Your fiance would be a great slave for labor, if you need someone to climb with.

[ And that is exactly why she doesn't complain about you and your trolling of said fiance. ]

He said he would've loved to help. [ In so many expressions. ] Maybe next time the place needs decorating, we'll make him take a day off work.

[ The most fun part of fun decorating is dragging other people into it over time. ]

Ha, that sounds like a wonderful plan; after all, nothing better than serving the community and the Great One. [He says as he puts his hands together-but it's pretty easy to read that he just wants to torture Longshot more. :Db]

[ Hm. He gets the sense that a relative visitor is afoot today- the lack of sheer unmanly joy accompanying it indicates that it is not a granddaughter.

Must be one of those sons of his instead. BUT HEY, HE'LL TAKE THAT. ]

[Pffft, whatever. I'll just be coming into the house like I own it. Likewise, he notes there's no joyful, unmanly noises, so there's no grandkids over.]

Knock, knock?

Hey, Nick!

[Gosh, you are far too into your job. ^^;]

I understand. But hey, make sure you have a little fun, okay? It won't be much of a festival if someone's not.

[A small smile, though he understands the bitter sweetness for memories of what isn't, now.]

I met my late wife at one, personally. Definitely one of the best festivals I'd been to, though knowing her, she'd want us to out-do it as many times as we can.

[Mm. She makes a quiet sound of confirmation, but then pens in]

I think he would feel the same way- he was always fond of making sure people were happy. [ . . . ]

Though~ another good one was when I won a giant stuffed animal prize on one of my first tries as a game. It was a fluke, so it was exciting!

Ha, that's one of the great things about festivals! Nothing better than all the games and stuff they're selling all over the place, right?

They each have some fondness attached to them... [There was the first festival she took part in throwing, the year she and Asbel went as a couple, and the first one spent as parents with their oldest child.]

What would yours be, Father Wolfwood?

Hm... That's a tough one. I guess it would be meeting my late wife at one. Or maybe it would be the one around when 'Bee was born... I've been through quite a few of them, actually.

Makes me feel a little old.

You hardly seem so old to me, Father. It seems our more fond ones have similarities to one another.
