CHARACTER INFO

Name: Zell Dincht
Age: 17
Fandom: Final Fantasy VIII

Appearance: Zell is pretty short for a guy - only 5'5” - but he's very physically fit. He has short blond hair that he likes to keep spiked up in front, and his most striking feature is the black tribal tattoo sprawling over the left side of his face. Zell prefers to wear loose, baggy clothes that comfortably allow lots of movement, and he doesn't like long sleeves. If he wears something with long sleeves, he'll often roll them up to his elbow. One item he always makes sure to keep on him are his metal-kuckled gloves.

Personality: The first impression Zell gives off is that he is a very loud, lively, and impulsive fellow. His mouth often runs faster than his brain, and is definitely the kind of person to act before thinking things through, which tends to get him into trouble from time-to-time. He is incredibly enthusiastic and always wears his emotions on his sleeve, but because of this, others poke fun at Zell, knowing it's easy to get a rise out of him for their own amusement. Because of his impulsive, excitable behavior, some people make the mistake to assume that Zell isn't too smart, but that's not at all the case. He's actually quite studious, likes to read, and can easily recite historical facts or information on certain places.

Overall, Zell is genuinely a really good guy. He's very outgoing, and tries to be friends with everyone he meets, despite the fact it's easy to make him angry. Though he is against the Alliance, Zell doesn't feel comfortable with breaking any laws and would definitely not enjoy the life of a fugitive. He has a strong sense of honor, and does not like to deviate from orders given to him by his superiors. Even as a kid, he was often perceived as a tattletale and a crybaby. He's not afraid to stand up for what's right, and he's always ready to protect his friends. Also, Zell has a sense of chivalry and is generally respectful towards females, especially his mother.

Class: Bounty Hunter/Mechanic

Backstory: Zell doesn't know anything about his birth presents. His earliest childhood memories are of life in a small, privately-run orphanage. While he was still young, he was adopted by the Dincht family, who still lives on Boros. They raised and loved him as if Zell were their own flesh and blood. In fact, he often tends to forget that he was adopted. He spent much of his youth in the local local mechanic's shop, fixing up hovercrafts and even some spaceships to earn some extra money for his family.

However, his real dream was to go out into the 'verse and fight for freedom from the grasp of the Alliance. He really looks up to his grandfather, who was a great soldier that died in the line of duty. Hoping to follow in grandpa's footsteps (without the getting killed part, of course), Zell took up combat training classes when he was only 13 years old. Though he was only 11 when the war ended, being raised on a planet with heavy government presence caused Zell to develop a strong opposition towards the Alliance. Finally, at age 17, he has managed to leave home, setting out on his own to build a reputation for himself. He heard stories that Pandora was the hub for anyone looking for a job, so Zell decided that's where he would start.

RP SAMPLE

First Person: [The video feed pops up with Zell looking enthusiastic as ever.]

All right, I got this! Ma, if you're watchin', I made it to Pandora, and I found somewhere I can stay! I don't really like it too much, though. It's real small and junky, but that's okay! I don't plan to stick around here too long. Just gotta keep checkin' that bounty board for jobs, and maybe I'll be able to join a crew real soon!

[He scratches his head, smile fading slightly.]

I didn't get any good jobs yet... Last thing I got was helpin' some old lady get a kitten out of a tree, but hey! At least I'm getting' paid, right?! Next time, I'm gonna get to the board early and get a real AWESOME job catchin' some kind o' big-time criminal! After that, bounty hunters are gonna be beggin' me to join their crew!!

Third Person: This was not what Zell had in mind when he set off to Pandora to be a bounty hunter, but this job was better than no job, and if old ladies needed cats pulled out of trees, Zell was going to do the best he could to get that kitten down. He stared up into the branches of the tree, which was barren and withered like the rest of the landscape on this planet. The absence of leaves made it easy to see the gray striped kitten perched comfortably on the upper branches of the tree.

“Hey, little guy!” Zell called, trying to coax it down. “I'm not gonna hurt ya! Your Ma's missin' ya pretty bad, y'know!”

The cat simply blinked at him. Looks like this would have to be done the hard way. With a groan, Zell began to haul himself up into the tree. His training in martial arts made him strong and agile enough to easily scramble up the branches, but much of the tree looked dead and withered. He wasn't sure how well these limbs would hold his weight.

Just as Zell thought he was getting close, the kitten grew nervous and hopped further up into the tree. “Aw, c'mon, ya gotta be kiddin' me!” Zell groaned as he continued making his way even higher. At this point, he forgot about the whole dead branch issue and just wanted to get that cat down as quickly as possible. The animal continued to shy away, moving further out onto the thinner end of the branch. Being a tiny kitten, it's weight wasn't an issue. Zell, on the other hand, was a bit too heavy. Trying to keep his balance, he scooted closer and closer to the edge until suddenly... SNAP!

Feeling the branch give way, the kitten quickly hopped over to the next limb, but Zell wasn't so lucky. He crashed into the next branch, which also broke under the sudden impact, causing him to tumble down the branches like a pachinko ball until he finally dropped all the way back to the ground. Maybe this job wasn't as easy as it sounded, after all...
