As far as the card goes, well it's never left my wallet, so I figure somebody at one of the online stores hacked the store's computer or copied their records to get my card number. That's a very rare thing to happen, but it doesn't really worry me because you never have to pay for stuff charged illegally on your card!

It was a check card so you can use credit or debit right out of your checking account. They used credit. As I understand, when you use it as a credit card, the money comes out of your checking account within a few days, but when you use it as a debit card it comes out right away. I had the credit card closed, but the checking account is still open for deposits and checks and stuff. Basically I just need a new card from Chevy Chase in the mail.
