You know if there's one thing I hate, its people who take things, and themselves for that matter, too seriously. I see people get bent out of shape over the stupidest things - for example, taking every little comment personally. Well, Britt, as for _prettygems, I checked out this community thing out of pure curiosity. As far as I can tell, the community's lj page is damn near impossible to read. Plus I can't really seem to figure out what it is other than having to advertise for the community every waking moment of your existance. I mean, I'm in a few communities so I get how they work but this one seems a bit bizarre. What's the deal with it?

I don't pick up on things very quick - I'm a bit slow sometimes :p

There's no real purpose to the community I suppose other than joining to see what other people think of you, and if you're accepted doing the same to other people and occaisionally promoting the community in random journals, or posting pictures and such.
How it works is you request to join the community, then once in you have to check out the rules which explain about posting an application. You have to post your application within a day or two of joining the community and then people in the community vote on whether they think you should remain in the community as an official member, or not.
I'll admit that it is a little confusing and a lot of people find it pointless, but it's an amusing way to pass the time for me at least.
