At home, in the before-time, Jenny had gone swimming naked in the cool green waters of Nimue's lake. There was something to be said for modern modesty, though, and the suit she'd picked out, it fitted very well.

There's some broad coming out of the ocean who's absolutely fucking gorgeous, like some kinda Venus or something. What's more, it looks like she's checking me out.

I sit up, pluck the cigarette from between my lips, and look her over appreciatively from head to toe while I exhale a cloud of smoke. "Hey, toots, how's it goin?" I call with a nod that's more like a come-hither jerk of my head.

These modern words. The way they speak. Half of what they say meant nothing to Jenny. She stopped, a few feet from him, one hand on her hip, the other shading her blue eyes.

She was Queen in Camelot, once, which did not mean that she wasn't used to being beckoned by handsome men.

"It goes," she said.

"Yeah, it does," I say with an appreciative waggle of my eyebrows. Jesus, she was fuckin' stacked. "What are you doing way over there, gorgeous? Come sit by me a while. I'll even put out the cigarette if it's buggin' you." Sure, I was enjoying having a smoke, but when it's a decision between a cigarette you can have later and a curvy dame right next to you, it's no contest.
