60 - Loss

It seems like every time I take a nice weekend off, something bad happens. This is only the second or third time, of course, but it's still enough to make me suspicious. Things always seem to be even less of a coincidence in this city than anywhere else.

No. I'd rather not.

Then are you still planning on prosecuting the Walter Dornez case?

Yes. That won't be a problem.

I'm looking into it. He's got one more day, and then I'm going in.

He says he's okay for the case, but call me sceptical.

Being alright for a case and being alright personally are two completely different things.

That too, of course. I didn't know I was capable of feeling sympathy for someone I hate before now.

And people wonder why I'm reluctant to take days off.

I need a word, George.

Clearly you're the most rational person around.

Apparently so.

I need your opinion of Charming's new policies.

My opinion. Charming can pretend to be in charge all he wants, but has zero understanding of how a police force should be run and I've never been one to obey orders blindly. I've told my people to carry on with what they've always done and if he starts a fuss I'll deal with it. All of them have commented to me on their dissatisfaction with his changes and I suspect it's the same in every other division. Unfortunately, my department back home was run by a political appointee, so this is familiar ground for me.

Understood.

I'm not too familiar with the new Warden, so I've got to ask-is he actually... capable of the position?

In my opinion? No. He's a politician, he has no idea what he's doing, and even if he is he's only going to look out for himself.
