Well, it's been a pretty quiet week. I don't see what all the fuss was about the flavour curse, trying a new taste every once in a while never hurt anyone ( Read more... )

Ma'am?

Anthony DiNozzo, 1st Lt. Hawkeye pointed me your way. I'm applying for a job in the police force and she says since I should work for Intel, you'd be my superior and thus, I'd have to pass your approval.

I used to be a federal agent before coming here and before that, I was a cop- always have been, always will be. It's more than a job, right?

Pleased to meet you, Agent DiNozzo. George Blake, former Deputy Director of the FBI.

It would be nice to have another federal officer around here. Part of the reason why the police force exists is because of people who don't know what else to do with themselves. It's not exactly something you can turn off.

Which branch did you work at before you were dragged into the City?

FBI? You don't happen to know an Agent Fornell, do you?

The pleasure's all mine.

I used to work with NCIS. Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Major Crime Response Team. I'm good at undercover work, but we worked a lot of crime scenes. Homicide, mostly.

Fornell? I don't think so, sorry. I know most of the agents in the Hoover Building, but that one doesn't ring a bell.

NCIS, you guys have a good reputation. Is there anyone else from your world here?

I don't get the best vibe from him. Not particularly harmful, just overall useless. His subordinates might have apologies, but there's no telling if he really is a decent worker or if they're just trained to be apologetic by the simple virtue of being subordinates.

I've got an inquiry for you: I was permitted on the force on the basis of observing/advising with the abstention of I'd help if needed, though I'm listed as an officer. That's fine, of course. I was just wondering if at any point you'd like a report on my opinions and observations about the force.

I know, but we can't afford to have him setting up some sort of rivalry. Don't worry, where I come from assholes men like him are a dime a dozen. If he's not useful I'll put him in a corner somewhere where he won't get in the way.

Anything you'd like to write up, Luke, I'd be glad to read.

Do you really think anyone would take him seriously enough to get a rivalry going? Though I can see your point. When Richard Zeeman was having a fit over the police, there was at least one dark entity egging him on. It might be worth it to keep an eye on that one.

I'll see about putting something together, then.

Well, he has his subordinates to back him up, and one person is enough to be a nuisance.

Send it over whenever.

It's true that I haven't been here quite that long... but it seems like the curses just give the city a different kind of 'reliability'.

......ah, except for that last one, I guess.

True, you can expect things to not be very reliable.

Ah...

I'd rather not bother you but... well...... I hope there's not any trouble letting Usui on the force?

It's just a little troublesome, having him living here like this...

No, we've hired him, for better or for worse.

Hm. Four months and counting... There is something good that came from this unusual journey and yet still, I wonder if two years and counting isn't overstepping my patience.
