Hmn. I need to find out how much damage The Corinthian and Jack Harkness did to Amanda Young before turning her in. Not for her sake, but if there's some other mysterious person who got to her beforehand that I should be looking for.
I would advise against anyone within our ranks representing her. I can't imagine that would look good. It'll either look like all our work is a front and we're just hanging out and playing along or like we rigged it in our favor and secured it by having one of our own people represent her.
Why do we have to find her a lawyer? We know she did it. If she wants to sue whomever beat her up let her find her own lawyer once she recovers enough to use the network.
She would have been executed without trial on Tatooine. Even in the Alliance they wouldn't put up with this.
No, it would have to be someone independent. I sypathize, Luke, I really do, but even cold-blooded killers need someone on their side in a court room, even if it's just to decide between a death sentence and a life sentence.

I know we'll have more than few arguing your side of things, but there are courts here and the deities have judged cases before, so that's the basis we're working from.
Well, I'm not sure "happy" is the right word, but I know some other options that would result in a much more terrifying society. The lesser of two evils.

Considering how widespread the killings were, it might be a bit hard to put together an impartial jury of residents. Then again, who knows how impartial a deity would be, anyway? Either way I second the nomination of Styles. His group has dealt with some of the more infamous cases that went through the court, although I believe from the other side last time.

And I'm afraid I really wasn't paying much attention to the court side of things, even when the city watch was bringing a case against someone. All the cases I've heard about were decided by deities and I believe both sides were represented by lawyers? Style's group would probably know more about it, if I'm remembering that correctly.
Considering how the court house and prison just popped up out of no where one day, people might have just been making things up as they went along. But I hope'm sure we'll have the time to work things out properly.

You honour her through trial.

Mostly 'cause it's got nothing at all to do with "justice" and as a system it fails.
