The Affairs of the Babysitting Assassins (Nobodies, that is.)

((Takes place a day or two after mini!Basi and Axel confronts Kuja.))

He's fed the kid ice cream, vegetables, and fruit juice. There had been a moment or two there where Axel was pretty sure shadows would be attacking him, shadows he's been able to control for most of his Nobody life (how dare they betray him, even if they weren't shadows from ( Read more... )

Terebas learned just a while ago that things really aren't always safe and happy in the Nexus, that some of the terribly-strong people she sees are actually ... terrible.

But she's a child, and one with very little real memory to work with anyway. She's bounced back, for the most part.

Right now, she is drawing. Someone was kind enough to put a sketchbook and crayons into the truck sent to her once they'd figured out Axel really did intend to keep her with him, and while she is going to need some new crayons soon (the black and red are almost gone) she's at least quiet and content~.

For now~.

Those stick figured Axels with generously drawn red hair have found good homes on Axel's fridge, desk, and windows. Wasn't everyday someone drew a picture of you with such enthusiasm.

It's also a good thing Terebas has bounced back. Axel wouldn't have known what to do if she were truly traumatized, and being a man who hated asking for help, Axel would have fumbled his way through it all. Which may not be all that good for Terebas.

Either way, now that he's got Terebas somewhat content, he breaks the news in his usual, blunt fashion. "I'm leaving, kid."

And there's visible improvement in those pictures! Axel might have a little artist on his hands - thankfully, she lacks Naminé's talent with memory.

There are also quite a lot of other pictures of all her other friends and random fanciful images - most of which are probably real things around the Nexus or at home. The ones of Roxas (any of those she's met) are probably the only other ones Axel's likely to put up~.

Right now, she looks up from colouring a floating stone. 'Where are you going?' She's not happy, but not upset.

Thankfully. One Naminé was enough. Not that Axel hadn't enjoyed putting her skills to use.

Not upset is good. Very good. "My world. Business to take care of, yanno. Which is why, you're going to stay here. Got it memorized?"

They do a little wiggle-wobble in her direction in greeting, inching their way closer to the girl they're supposed to guard. The other Nobody, the strong Nobody, is telling them that the girl is important, worth ceasing their existence for.

"--and if you don't, you will cease to exist. Got it memorized~?" Axel finishes, meaning every threat that he utters. He turns to Terebas then, another sort of warning in his gaze as he points at her. "You. Stay out of trouble. And no wandering outside the Nexus or I'll... um... well, it'll be really bad. Got that memorized?"

Axel isn't too worried about Terebas. Between her guards and the Assassins, not to mention her penchant for releasing dark weapons when she feels threatened, Axel is pretty confident that she will be fine.

She's kinda got wide eyes as she listens. Axel would kill Nobodies if they didn't protect her? :o

...It's not like she's entirely unused to that kind of talk, so she's not shocked. She's not sure how to react, so she stays quiet. And smiles a little at the end of his speech to her. It's still Axel, after all~. 'I'll stay in the Nexus until you come back. Except going for lessons. That's different, right?'

She's going to be better-guarded than most kids, that's for sure. Even if she's going to be seeing if she can ditch them - I mean, play hide-and-seek.

Of course he would. They would be useless if they couldn't even follow simple commands to keep someone safe.

"Yeah, if Kai comes to get you. Kai," Axel restates firmly, alluding to shape-shifters or imitators that might pretend to be the man. He expects Terebas to be able to tell the difference.

Axel turns his head suddenly, looking down to the side, frowning. "Keep your curls on, man, I'm coming," Axel mutters before moving to poke Terebas on the forehead. "See ya, kid. I'll be back when I get back." And with that, Axel walks through dark matter opening up against the wall.

And Terebas is going to find out how stern/amused Axel can get if she destroys something in the process.

Curls~? She will ask about this curly-haired man later. In the meantime, she nodnods to Axel, tolerates the poke to the forehead (it's kinda funny!) and calls a goodbye after him as he leaves.

And then she turns to the Dusks. 'Let's go out.' Smile! 'I'll just be a minute.' Must tidy the crayons and sketchbook and find a backback....

But just if it's his, right? :D?
