The Case of the Unexpected Guest. (Namely, himself.)

Jul 09, 2007 09:53

Kid gone for lessons, Dusks vanished to where ever they usually go when not summoned, and apartment all to himself.

Axel leans back into his oh-so-comfy couch and gives a relieved sigh. No Roxas in sight to raise an eyebrow and call him pointlessly sentimental, or cute little girl to implore him into doing non-assassinate-y things. Like... ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, things were not destined to go quite that way. Or not today at least, as the (relative) calm was interrupted by a ripple of darkness that soon resolved itself into one of those far too familiar portals as a rather unexpected (red-headed) visitor stepped out.

With an luck, he'd be too distracted by the appearance of his alt to notice the wards casually sliding down over the building as the portal vanished. No point in coming in unprepared, after all - and Axel rather doubted he'd be received particularly well.

OH SHI-- oh look, it's his alt. Please excuse Axel while he heads for the nearest emergency exit.

... That seems to be blocked.

Axel pokes experimentally at the wards, noting that he could break through (it was similar to his own powers, after all), given a little time. However, that does take time and he's now trapped in his own apartment with his alt.

Axel resigns himself to being laughed at and raises an eyebrow at Axel. "Ran out of vacation spots? I might have to charge you, yanno."

Welcome Axel, to the vacation from hell. Quite possibly literally.

"You know, if I didn't know better I'd say you didn't seem all that pleased to see me." A slow, devious smirk spread across his face as he continued. "Something go not quite according to plan?"

Oh yay... and Axel so needed a vacation in a warm place, too.

"The fact that you just pop in like a zit without warning?" That's definitely not according to plan. Neither is that devious smirk.

"Oh, never. But if you can't trust yourself~..."

"Yeah, I know. But that's not all that uncommon in the Nexus, you know."

"Then you can't trust anybody. Yeah, I got it."

Not her version, Axel thinks while smirking knowingly at Axel. "Just call her a potential useful ally. How grateful do you think she'll be once she returns to her normal state?"

"Depends on how ... helpful ... you made yourself." 'Helpful' here having the meaning of not being too blatantly heartless and ... well, Axel-y.

Well, considering how far off the mark Axel is for being parent material (i.e.- Very heartless-y and Axel-y), that 'helpful' scale might have to be curved. Either that, or Basi would have to possess a very strong sense of humor. Assassins and Dusks for babysitters? What the heck was Axel thinking?

"I've made myself available." Subtle poke-poke at barrier. "Not sure you would do the same, buddy."

"Hardly. Doesn't mean I can't be an ass on occasion though."

"By the by, where is your Roxas - haven't seen him around much lately."

"Point. Maybe too much of a point."

Axel frowns, glancing down at the mention of Roxas, now more out of habit than anything. "He’s around," Axel answers. Others not well acquainted with Axel's mannerism would not pick up on the note of tension under those words.

"Around." Unfortunately for Axel, his alt does indeed notice the tension there, as well as the glance down. "You don't know for sure?" And yes, there's is a slight note of 'and why might that be?' in his voice.

And an almost wince, not from his alt‘s tone so much as what the words implied by themselves. Why might he not know? Probably the same reason his alt did not know.

"He's his own person. He goes where he please," Axel nearly snaps.

There's a pause before he answers - and then a slow smirk spreads across his face.

"How are things in Castle Oblivion these days?"

Axel knows that smirk. Axel makes that smirk.

"Not bad. Going to be moving in soon. Why?"

"We could always show him what'll happen if he leaves. Might make more of a difference that way."

And maybe there's more than a touch of curiosity in Axel's head tilt. After all, he never got the full story of what went on in Castle Oblivion.

"What really went on there? And how would it change his mind?"

Weakening maybe, although he might want to be a little careful with the poking - too much and his alt is likely to notice.

"You actually gone looking, or were you just gonna wait for him to wonder back on his own?"

And backing off from the poking for now. He's starting to realize how ridiculous it is to try and escape from his own apartment just because his alt is asking uncomfortable questions. He could take it. It's not like he had to steel his heart for it or anything... And if worst comes to worst, he could just make one big puncture in the ward. If it came to that.

"Both." Much of the first and resigned to the latter. Kid could hide, Axel will give him that.

"Where've you tried? Might be you're not looking in the right places."

"All the usual places, man." Much agitated arm waving goes here. "Even the tower. At first I thought he hopped worlds but none of the gummi ships are missing."
