Many thanks for all the kind messages following my last post back in March. The operation went well and I was on iv antibiotics in the hospital for two weeks. This was followed by six weeks of three different, high dose oral antibiotics at home and as you can probably imagine this leaves you feeling pretty rough. I am now finished with those and

It's so true Mechtild, despite the warnings we don't really believe infection can happen to us when we're back home and feeling better. Usually it doesn't of course but all this was the result of an ulcer on my lower leg which was taking forever to heal. ironically it had appeared to be finally healed when this happened - but not quite, obviously!
I'm so glad that you and your husband are feeling the benefits of your various ops. Arthritis is such a scourge but we are lucky to live in an age when something can be done to relieve the pain unlike previous generations who just had to suffer.

Sounds like you had a really rough time of it. High dosages of antibiotics really do make you feel bad.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed the tests come out positive (or rather, negative) and that the new hip can be put in soon.
