Holding our own before a break in.

Cordy and I had seen the strange couple, well, in the words of Xander, the father and son duo, back at Wolfram and Hart and had decided to follow them to their dwellings, knowing, well virtually one-hundred percent, knowing, that they were both linked to Giles ( Read more... )

I sighed and walked over to the stairs, dusting it off with my hand before sitting on the bottom one. We were going to be here a while until they freaking left.

"What do we do when they leave the room to get ice and see us hovering outside? And when they leave the room for real and still see us hovering? Circling the hallways is not exactly our best course of action, Wes." I said, placing my head in my hands.

We were going to be here for a long time. And I hadn't even brought Cosmo or Vogue to read. God. I could be back at Wolfram and Hart, getting Lindsey the hell out of there so I could personally kick his ass. But no. I'm here waiting for some psuedo slayer and her cranky old watcher to leave their damn room so we could find Wesley's stupid tablets that they stole.

My life in a nutshell, ladies and gentlemen.

Assoon as she had mentioned then opening the door for ice, I saw and heard the door opening and as an instantaneous reflex, pulled Cordy behind the corner that I had strategically stood near, just in case something like this happened.

As I did, I peered my eyes around the corner and looked into the eyes of this doubtless watcher. He was on alert, as if he had done something wrong, which, of course, he had, by being involved in any plan to get in my way.

I was nearly ready to push open the door and open fire on them, but that was something that might not be able to be concealed, let alone the fact that I did not relish the potential of having the police up my rear end.

"Not all jobs are easy ones, Cordy. This may not seem like time well spent and I know that Lindsey is in trouble back at the firm, but they have exactly what we need and we can prove without a doubt, right here, tonight, that they are in cahoots with Giles."

I glared at Wesley as he pulled me into the corner with him and almost yelled at him before I realized what he was doing. Stupid watcher and his slayer left the room or something. I crossed my arms over my chest and waited, listening to him.

"Well, could they speed up the process? It was not exactly my *dream* when you woke me up from slumberland to be standing in a musty old stairwell waiting to prove someone wrong."

I huffed and leaned back against the wall. Could he tell I was aggravated? Hah.

"Sorry." I muttered. "And hey. Why do you think Lindsey is the only thing on my mind at the moment?" I glared at him.

Okay so he was, but still.

"I have other priorities too, you know. Like getting your stupid tablets, templates, whatever back and getting the hell out of here."

I loved Cordy's new mindset, but it didn't change her at the core. At the core, she still cared about what she cared about as deeply as ever and as I waited in te hall, hopeful that they weren't going to be spending the night in that room, slayer and watcher, I too found myself letting my thoughts drift back to my girls, to my sirens, and even wondered if that would be able to last ( ... )
