Me, I'm gnashing my teeth waiting for the 3rd-and-final season DVD of Into the Badlands to get issued... probably a little more gory than need be, but otherwise the best show I've seen in years.

Ohhhh, is that the one supposedly based on "Journey to the West" , except updated to near future post-apocalyse, and totally bad-ass? I read about it a couple years ago, but have not seen.

Wow, LJ sure has made some changes... Anyway, "near future post-apocalyse, and totally bad-ass" is totally accurate, but [goes off, finds translation, and assorted films] if it's based on "Journey to the West" it's a mighty thin connection.

Basically -- bad things happen and everyone dies, then it gets worse. :) And despite all, main character Sunny (Daniel Wu, who also has creative control) never loses his ...innocence... and his essential goodness. And that differentiates it from ordinary grimdark, a style I'm quite weary of. -- The fantasy elements start off only as timeslowed wire-fu, but become considerably stronger as it goes along (and may be consequences of the apocalypse... this sits on that boundary with SF).
