Jennifer Walters had a bad feeling about this. Still, she had to get work, and all.
But as she wandered into the fog, she started wondering if maybe she should have made this trek as the mighty She-Hulk. It sure was creepy, out in the streets of Fandom. She tugged on her purple jacket, making sure it wouldn't snag if she had to run or worse.
Savannah really knew better than to go out and about when things in Fandom weren't exactly normal. However, there were some things from the art store that she needed and she wanted to stop in and check on Sean's store.
However, as she was making her way back from Sean's store, she wasn't sure that going on to Strokes of Genius was such a good idea right now. She had a weird feeling that was bugging her and the longer she stayed outside, the worse that feeling got. It was starting to make her twitchy as she tried to decide if she was going to continue with her shopping list, or go back to the dorms.
It was really just a case of terrible timing, true believers. Two strangers in a fog, a special and terrible fog.
Jennifer was already getting on edge, stumbling forward near-blindly.
"Anyone out there?" she shouted.
That strange feeling was making Savannah's skin crawl and her hands were clenched at her sides and she wondered about whether she should start casting a spell or not. Maybe a little bit of light would help the
situation?
She didn't like the weird sounds she was hearing, which is why she was starting to recite the latin for a light spell out loud.
Probably not her best plan in recent times.
As far as reactions went, Jennifer's was even worse. When she heard what sounded like evil chanting, there was just about one thing she thought she had to do: Hulk Out.
And she liked that jacket, too. But it was torn to shreds by the time her muscles popped and sinew stretched as her body transformed into that green giantess the She-Hulk.
The accompanying bellow was more than a little loud and other-worldly sounding.
Savannah heard that bellow and immediately assumed she was about to be attacked and the light spell that she had been reciting turned into a force bolt spell. When the spell was complete, she stepped back, throwing her
spelled bolt in the direction of the bellow.
Because it didn't occur to her that RUNNING might be a better plan, you see.
With a scream, Jennifer flew off her feet and landed on her back. It was the surprise of the bolt that really caught her off guard. She scrambled back to her feet, determination in her face.
"What, too scared to face me?" she bellowed, slamming a fist into her opposite open hand.
She knew better, really, but Savannah still stepped out of the fog to face the monster she heard threatening her.
"I would run if I were you!" She needed time to prepare another spell.
Jennifer stared, blinking a few times. Was it a person in front of her? Every time she blinked, it was like she got a different image, lizard parts and beaks and feather, but sometimes, sometimes
she could make out a girl.
"What are you, some kind of evil shapeshifter?" she said, putting up her big fists.
Savannah wasn't hearing words and later she would realize this. However, right now she was trying to gather up more energy to fight. She saw what she thought was something swooping down at her head and she swung her fist.
Jennifer saw what looked like a scaly arm swing at her, and she braced for impact as it hit her. She was quite the resilient target, at least.
She figured she could just counter with a punch of her own. "Punch first, ask questions later, huh?" she quipped.
When the punch connected with her shoulder it hurt, though all Savannah saw was something scaled and sharp. Since that arm was going to be useless for a bit... did we mention the ow? ... she brought her other hand up and fired the knock-back spell she had been working on.
Jennifer wasn't expecting another blow like that, and toppled over backwards. The impact, however, cleared her head just enough that when she looked up at her attacker she could see who it was. And that's when she put up her hands.
"Stop, stop!" she shouted. "Same team!"
She winced. That was possibly the dumbest way to phrase that.
Savannah was in pain and scared and her head felt fuzzy... but she did finally hear human words. She looked down and as her vision cleared she gasped. She recognized the girl she had been fighting.
Girl. Fellow student. Not a monster.
"Jen?" she asked, her voice very quiet.
"Yeah," she said. "I think we might want to get out of the fog. You want me to run you to the clinic? Or the dorms? I don't know how hard I hit you..."
She was worried about that. She never knew how much strength she had.
She got to her feet. "This stuff is really bad news."
Just like Savannah was worried about how much she may have hurt Jen with her spells. "Are you okay... the spells..." She swallowed, feeling suddenly ashamed that she had attacked another student. "Let's get to the dorms. We'll feel better there. This stuff... this is horrible."
She had thought the other girl was some kind of monster attacking her and that just didn't sit well with Savannah.
Jennifer nodded. "You want me to carry you? I can run pretty fast, if we want to." She finally took the time to shake out her head. She'd definitely have been feeling those spells later if it weren't for her healing factor. "Better safe than sorry, you know?"
Definitely better safe, in all this fog.
Savannah gave her a wan smile. She felt bad about Jen offering to help her after she had hurt her. She knew what those two spells could do to someone. However, she was more afraid of trying to make her own way back and
attacking another student.
"Yes, please," she said. "Better safe than sorry and ... if we're together maybe what happened with us won't happen to the next student I run into."
"Good point," Jennifer said, already having to force herself to disbelieve the little hallucinations that were creeping into her vision again.
She walked over, scooping up Savannah as if she weighed almost nothing and cradling her carefully in her arms.
"I have to say, though. You pack quite a wollop, there," she said, her voice definitely indicating how impressed she was. And then she took off, running towards the dorms.
