[Lyle appears to be on the beach despite the rain, and looks completely unfussed by the fact that he's now mildly moist.]

Well, what do you know. Looks like the rain just made all of that crazy pollen vanish. Just a guess, but is everyone back to their original gender now? [There's a small grin for a moment.] Allelujahs, Neil and Oliver, I'm ( Read more... )

You think they'll attack us?

I want to say no, but it could be a possibility.

But why!? There isn't any point in attacking us--unless... someone tries attacking them first.

Because sometimes people are idiots, that's why. But you know, I'm hoping that they'll at least be willing to talk to us first.

It was just a possibility, anyway. It probably won't happen, Tormod.

[Oliver looks a bit tired but is otherwise back to his normal self]

Yeah, looks like the rain did the trick. Lyle? I uh... [trails off; he has no idea how to say this] Well, you know I wasn't exactly myself...

But I did hear the message, too! I'm going to talk to the Doctor. And the other passengers... If we work together, we should be able to come up with a way of signaling that ship!

[Smiles.] Hey, Oliver. Good to see you. Don't worry about it.

Yeah. I've heard building a huge fire being suggested, so unless I hear something better, I'm gonna go with that.

[makes a face] Good to be me. I hope it keeps raining!

That sounds like a rather good idea, actually. Who's organizing it?

Almost makes you homesick for our rainy little islands, doesn't it?

It was Amaterasu's idea, I think.

Yeah, just fine and back to normal here. And I heard that message too. Sure would be nice to get off this crazy planet.

No more random genderswaps or sudden lack of inhibitions.

mr_dynames February 12 2009, 19:30:06 UTC
Exactly. Who knows what could be next? As for getting the attention of whoever was sending that message, got any ideas?

Not many. Making some sort of huge fire seems to be the best bet right now, but I'm open to suggestions.

Sounds like a chance. Attracting their attention in a way that clarifies our origin is the tricky part.

Yeah, and that's the only problem I can see. We're kinda limited on resources here.

We'll make due.

[He has his arms crossed over his chest, clearly disapproving of Lyle's current situation.]

What are you doing out in this weather? The caves may not be insulated, but at least they can provide basic protection. You'll get sick.

[And with the nagging out of the way, it's time to address business.]

I did catch that message. Obviously we'll need to try everything we can to catch their attention, but there is a chance they may be hostile. If that were the case, I believe we have the manpower to usurp control of their vessel.

I come from a country where it rains almost constantly, I'm used to it.

[But yes, business.] That's what I thought, but they could be armed, right?

frozenseraphim February 14 2009, 02:15:08 UTC
That's no excuse, you still have a responsibility to keep yourself healthy.

And it is likely they are armed. It would be foolish to do any sort of reconnaissance without weapons at their disposal, and their transmission suggested they were from some branch of military.

I'm fine, it's just a bit of drizzle.

These odds just keep getting better and better.
