out of inn: visiting Peter, part one

Jul 26, 2007 18:15

Regulus has two weeks out of the house. Two weeks that will not be spent at school.

Two weeks somewhere Kreacher can't follow him, if Peter's work on that holds up. Nearly anyone would be cheerful at that prospect.

And so, at the appointed time, he shows up at Peter's flat.

Peter is home, fortunately, and opens the door. "Hello! Come on in."

It's not an elegant flat by any stretch of the imagination; it's just the bedsit of a young medical student. But it's comfortable.

It's also most emphatically not a wizarding flat. Peter's reflection in the mirror near the door isn't talking to him, or even moving. There's a box with glass in the front sitting on a table. There are lights, but they're brighter than candles or firelight. And there's no hearth at all, which would tend to indicate that the flat isn't linked to the Floo Network.

"...As I suspected. Mother would kill me if she knew what I was up to." He sounds remarkably cheerful about the prospect, though.
The glass-fronted box reminds him a bit of the inn's computer screens, only there's no obvious source of input.

"Then we'll just have to make sure that Mommie Dearest and her pet spy don't find out." Peter sounds remarkably cheerful as well.

He notices Regulus studying the box. "That's a TV set."

"Quite."
The TV gets eyed a bit more. "Oh, the... not-exactly-radio thing?" He's going to have to see it in action before he's anywhere near having a proper grasp of the idea.
