The island, it seemed had other ideas.
He was forced to stop and brace himself as a familiar and unexpected white shape came bounding towards him, a crab firmly attached to one of his ears.
"I told you one of these days you'd poke your nose where it didn't belong and something would poke back," he told the dog with mock solemnity. Then he broke out in a grin. "When did you get here, boy?"
