The assignment this week for colored works on paper was to paint or draw anything that you like or anything that has some significance to you.  Everyone in the class did artwork that was very political and very serious, having to do with poverty, global climate change, the economy, etc.

I painted pancakes.

I bet they all wish they did pancakes, too. Those were just for show: they were too embarrassed to do the mundane things that actually mean more to them.
