Everyone seems up in arms, and rightly so. Certainly, the deaths of hundred is a terrible thing, and cannot go unanswered. But before we begin to point fingers at one another, let's take a more critical look at the facts, shall we

You show an incredible understanding of not only politics, but human nature as well. I had considered the possibility of misinformation, but not nearly to the extent that you have. It seems there's a lot I have yet to learn.
I've spent a great deal of time making a study of both areas. It was one of the things impressed upon my by my teacher. If you cannot understand how people think and act, it's impossible to predict their actions and come up with the appropriate strategies for a given situation. I'm sure that not all of my thoughts on this incident will prove fruitful, but considering all possibilities before paring things down to those most likely to have occurred is usually a rewarding exercise, especially when waiting for new information to present itself.
In all my years living within the Badlands, I doubt a bunch of pirates would waste their time poisoning some town without looting it first... I'll admit, I was little hasty to jump to conclusions but another person from the Badlands got me thinking otherwise now.
A good point. It's hardly their usual method of operation. It's hard to see what a single ship could have hoped to accomplish with this sort of action. It is worth considering that they were, perhaps, unwitting players in the tragedy, but I doubt they acted of their own accord, unless they're complete fools. They seems to have eluded the Victoria II in a past conflict, so I find this unlikely.
If its not the allure of money, booze or women, most pirates wouldn't go to such extremes to ruin a town...
Especially messing with poison that toxic, would you really expect a bunch of uneducated pirates to know how to handle such toxins? They would have killed themselves by accident.
Another excellent point. It's doubtful anyone on that crew knows the proper handling so such substances. And, of course, there is the question of how they would have gotten their hands on such a thing in the first place.
It's true. The masses who have made up their minds already are unlikely to change them. That is not my goal here. My words are for those who have intellect and curiosity enough to look deeper into this whole affair, and to facilitate a sharing of ideas on the matter. It's clearly not something that can be left in the hands of... politicians.

It's understandable though and even while your words are wise, they are most likely to fall on deaf ears.

As much as we discuss it, the truth of the matter is that divided as we are, we are little to nothing in the strength of the government.

How do we even start finding the truth here?
