the same flight that cost $89 on tuesday now costs $278 on thursday. i'm as angry at myself for not double-checking my schedule on monday as i am for perusing travel websites on tuesday before i could even book a flight. if i hadn't known that cheaper tickets were to be had, i wouldn't be as irritated right now ( Read more... )

ship the clothes. They'll all charge you if the bags weigh too much. just shove what you'll need immediately (about 3 or4 days worth) into the carry on and dont worry about the rest.

Also, check neighboring airports. When I flew out to LA I saved about $200 by stopping in Pheonix for 20 minutes and flying into Burbank instead of LAX. It may be cheaper to fly into Sanford on a smaller airline.

YOu can bring a drink you purchase in the airport aboard with you. You'll pay $10 for the 20ounce coke at the magazine stand, but at least it will be on par with what you expect Coke to be.
