[Carolina sits in silence, regarding the other woman without comment, half wondering if CT would eventually break the peace like she was so used to doing, and half caught up in her own thoughts.]
[York and Wash and, well ... Wash (nope, still weird), were from farther down the line. They had their reasons and as much as she disliked it she was keeping her distance. CT, on the other hand, was an anomaly.]
[Carolina had always had a problem figuring her out.]
What's the last thing you remember, before you arrived here?
[CT's tone is curt, if not a little snide. It had been years since she'd been at Freelancer, going on nine this year. She didn't take orders from anyone. Hell, she'd run an excavation all by her fucking self and talking to Carolina still didn't ensure not having to face the Director.]
[That's the best defense, right? Paranoia always gets things done and has never bitten her in the ass before. No, never. And the fact that she'd been doing her best to dodge Carolina the past month or so spoke to the fact that she didn't want anything to do with Freelancer, especially with someone who just wanted to help.]

No, but it would certainly make things easier. I'm just trying to put a puzzle together and the pieces don't quite fit yet.
