It had been weeks since he'd left Jimmy's, and now they were approaching Christmas, Dean knew he had a choice. He hadn't left under the best terms, even worse, he knew he'd upset Jimmy. And Jimmy had spent all of those weeks recycling three sets of pajamas and doing not a whole lot save drinking and sleeping. As the holidays kicked up he switched from just brandy to egg nog and eventually while eating here and there tried to at least be productive by putting up a tree and decorating a little.

In the end all it did was make him feel hollow.

Watching Christmas specials wasn't doing much to resolve his mood either. He'd been in the middle of the movie Elf when the knock on the door made him jump and in a quick and annoying hurry tried to smooth out his hair and look semi-decent (a feat he was incapable of at the moment) before answering it.

"Dean." He said it before his brain could fully grasp that he was standing there, just looking back at him a little awe struck.

It took a while for him to open his mouth to speak, too guilt-ridden for the state Jimmy was in. And then his conscience kicked in again he realized he was being arrogant all over again. Exhaling heavily he stared down at the step and nodded, confirming that yes, he was really there.

"Hey."

Jimmy stepped back into his house a little to allow Dean room to come inside. Still beside himself with disbelief that he was there.

Staring at the space for him to step into, Dean paused, held himself back until he realized he couldn't explain away turning up on the doorstep on Christmas Eve.

Stepping through into the familiar hall, he cleared his throat and waited for Jimmy to shut the door behind him. He hadn't brought a bag this time. He wasn't going to just try and invite himself back into the other man's life.
