James had stayed asleep and content for a little while anyway. That was until he'd woken up to an empty room. He'd stayed in the room for a while, though it had been a hard thing to do. Especially when he was starting to get antsy and maybe the doctor wasn't coming back. So he'd decided to do the next best thing, head out of that room and go some place...

Well, it didn't really matter to be honest. He'd just needed out of that room but he'd found a spare comm in Bones' room. To be honest, he thinks it belongs to his older counter part.

Turned out the sneaking was unnecessary. So was the wandering through the small set of rooms, calling out for Jim. If the kid wasn't exactly where Leo had left him, he wasn't around at all.

"Damnit," he muttered, sinking down onto the couch. So much for keeping him safe and seperated from his older self. Shy of wandering around the ship looking for him, there wasn't really anything to do but wait and hope he'd come back.

Or he could remember that the older Jim's comm had been in his room. So yeah... the sixteen year old stays away from his older self. It's a good hour or so and he's not back yet. Though he's heading that way because now he's getting a bit too crowded. So the lone room would be a good thing.

This is Bones we're talking about here. He's not going to remember something as trivial as one of Jim's things in his room and then not or vica versa. That was just how the universe worked. He didn't even notice it, let alone question it.

"I didn't really need to know that, you know." He says making a slight face.

"I didn' say what we were doin'."

[iamnotmyfather]

"You SO didn't have to say what you were doing. Your eyes said it all."

"The hell do my eyes have to do with anything?"

[iamnotmyfather]

"Right, have to follow in a dead man's footsteps. Expect to be something I'm NOT."

"And you never will be with that attitude."

[iamnotmyfather]

"I told you, I don't want to be." James says before curling up on the couch.

Leonard looked down to Jim, this young, stubborn, fragile thing he wasn't used to. Saw plenty of traits of it come through, sure, but the Jim he knew and loved was rarely this low.

"Really, kid, if you don't go home, what are ya gonna do?"

"You could always come with me."

"So I'll be there when you two meetin' makes the universes collapse?"

[iamnotmyfather]

"It isn't going to collapse."

[notajack]

"So you hope."

[iamnotmyfather]

"I said it wasn't happening!" Jim states.

The teen visibly flinches at that before shaking his head and takes off down the hall back towards Bones' quarters. Or rather... probably to get utterly lost.

For a moment, Leonard looks about ready to follow the younger Kirk, but instead he just sighs and moves to sink down on the couch next to Jim.

He kisses his lover's temple. "He's gonna get lost, you know."

"He already found his way back to my room once. He can do it again."
