[ After the pod people, the blob, growing unexpectedly, what was next that Mayfield had in store for them?

Monsters.

Monsters.

Well, this ought to be fun. ]

[ Action: Mayfield High. ]

[It's like Barry's mechanical squid all over again. Or the giant fish mecha. Or the army of clockwork ducks...

Sparks have a thing for derpy mechanical animals okay.]

I see you've managed to collect a minion.

[SPEAK CAREFULLY, DIANA. He has known other ladies that have special gifts with animals with jointed legs and feelers...]

[ Simple Crab stares at Klaus. Who are you and why are you interrupting it from it scratches? It was enjoying those scratches, thank you very much. ]

I find it neat.

[ Simple Crab: I WAS CALLED NEAT. Day made. =D ]

I am not calling into question how neat it may or may not be. I was more referring to the fact that you seem to be the first, at least to my knowledge, to attempt to tame one and apparently succeed.

[Simple Crab gets an unimpressed sort of imperious look. He will not be giving you scratches, Simple Crab. Nope.]

All it'll take is persuasion instead of screaming and acting like an idiot to them.

[ But don't you want to give it scratches? You know you want to. ]

[Dexter is watching with wide eyes at this apparent robocrabmonster whisperer. And is convinced he can do better. So he tries it with a nearby crab.]

CRAB! LISTEN TO MY ORDERS AND DO AS I SAY! ROLL OVER!

[It stares at him, scratching a claw against its head. And promptly picks him up, roaring meancingly.]

NO! BAD CRAB! BAD CRAB!

[ And Diana will stare at you as if you just said one of the most idiotic things she has heard yet. She crosses her arms over her chest and sighs, shaking her head. ]

Put the boy down. Now.

[ The crab stares at Diana, then at Dexter, then back at Diana. Oh, she's not happy. Okay, we will fix this by putting this small boy down on the ground. ]

Now - sit, boy.

[ And Simple Crab does just that. To reward it, Diana gives a small scratch too the top of its' head. ]

[Dexter breathes a sigh of relief. Of course, that method didn't work, so no harm could be gotten in learning other people's methods!]

I thought these crabs would be moved by the power of suggestion... but I guess not...

[ That's the kind of thinking Diana likes! ]

You have to be patient with them.

[Don't think he doesn't notice this. BECAUSE HE DOES. You've been acting weird all day and now he's all worried and this is not acceptable. When the last bell rings, you'll find Ed heading towards you.]

Hey, Di! Can we talk for a minute?

[ Dammit. Oh, well. She straightens herself up and gives a slight uneasy smile towards Ed. ]

Sure. What do you need?

Nothing, really. Just have a question.

[He was just going to talk to you here, but seeing that smile makes him think better of it. Hope you didn't think you were going to be able to hide this from him, Diana. He nods towards the font doors, motioning for her to follow him.]

C'mon, we'll talk on the way home.

[ Well, she did. Oops. Though, she does follow him as directed. ]

All right. Go ahead and ask your question when you wish.

[ Why does she have a bad feeling about all this? ]

[ A little girl is watching Diana from a distance, holding her ceremonial hoe over her shoulder. She makes no attempt to start a conversation, really, but will be watching her closely regardless.
It will only be after school, once Rika's found some time to approach Diana freely, that she'll do anything more than stare. ]

Busy day at school?

[ Diana has plans to just go home as quickly as possible so that she can deal with her problem on her own. But, she does turn around and give Rika a nod. ]

You know how it is.

Perhaps I do know. What is it that is making you so busy? Perhaps I can assist you in something? I am quite on top of my schoolwork.

[ She walks closer, deciding that she doesn't want to let Diana handle this on her own. It probably isn't schoolwork, in a place like Mayfield. ]

Please do not hesitate to tell me.

Oh, the concert, a few projects - you know, the usual. Maybe I bit off more than I can chew, but I'm able to handle the stress. It gives me something to do.

[ She is very good at avoiding her problems. She doesn't want to rip this bandaid off just yet since the wound is still so fresh. ]

... How did you manage to do that?

Persuasion.

[ Don't you just wanna pet the crab, Soul? ;w; It just looks so happy. ]

But... it's a robot, isn't it? It can actually understand you?

[ But Simple Crab wants you to pet it. ]

Well, I've built robots before that have intelligence in them. Why not?
