I just finished reading a very very beautiful book called Gazelle by Rikki Ducornet. Set in Egypt during the 1950s, the book is about a 13 year old girl whose mother cheats on her father and later leaves them and moves into a hotel. Elizabeth becomes enamored with one of her father's friends Ramses Ragab, who is older and runs a perfume shop

Heh, because that would be too complex and would require me citing many many passages. :) Also, because I didn't think about doing that when I finished it (part of this is promped by me finishing the book and thinking about it in the same day).
