There's a religious part behind it but most people celebrate it with gift giving. When I was little, I was told Santa Claus would come to our house at night and deliver presents if I was good.

He's a dude that lives up in the North Pole and he's got this workshop with tons of elves and they make presents.

So there's a man that... lives in the North Pole and has elves?

[This makes absolutely no sense. What are elves, anyway?]

This Christmas thing seems really popular, doesn't it?

It does. I can see why it is, though.

Really? I don't see any point to it at all.

Most people like to give and get things.

It seems like everyone has beaten me to the present part. However, there is an alternate reason as to why Christmas is a special holiday, dear.~

What is the other reason?

It can be taken as a religious holiday celebrating the birth of a very controversial Jew.~

Though that date is up in the air.~

It's a holiday celebrating the birth of God's son.

It is?

I don't really know anything about Christianity. It doesn't exist in my world.

Aaah, I see. Then it would be a little confusing. But yes, that is the official reason to celebrate it. Except instead of giving presents to God's son, you give them to your friends and family.

That makes sense, then. I like the idea of the holiday, and being giving things to friends and family. It's not a bad idea.
