It wasn't that Tony missed the meetings, or the interviews, or the public appearances. The speeches and whatnot. And not just because of all the times he didn't show up. Karen was sort of expecting to spend some time waiting for Tony, so when she walked up the path to the compound and already saw him sitting out there like he did it every day, she as a little surprised.

"Wow," she said, slowing to a stop in front of him, "should I note this and let Pepper know you were on time for once?"

"On time for what?" Tony said, staring up at her through the sunglasses. Abruptly, he hopped up to his feet. "No, do that. Write me a note. Do you have a camera? And a... watch."

Tony made a show of looking at his watch. "For about, oh, I don't know, from when I sat down until now," he said. "Does it... matter? I don't know that it's relevant, I'm not punching a timecard here."
