+ Much of this is approximated, and runs on Comic Book Time™.
+ When the timeline conflicts between Innocence Lost and Target-X, Innocence Lost is taken as canon. Subsequently, due to these discrepancies, some events in Target-X are pushed back, in order to make sense chronologically, and fit in with Innocence Lost.
LEADING UP TO LAURA'S CREATION
→ Dale Rice manages to steal a sample of Weapon X's DNA, but is killed by the mutant in the process. His friend and partner, Martin Sutter, uses the sample to start a project aiming to recreate Weapon X. Eventually, Dale's son, Zander, joins as the surgical head.
→ After twenty-two failed attempts at using the DNA sample to alter specimens, geneticist Dr. Sarah Kinney joins the Facility, as the head, intent on creating a new specimen from the Weapon X DNA sample via cloning.
→ Sarah finds that the Y chromosome is corrupted and, without permission, replicates the X chromosome to create a female genetic twin. As per Rice's suggestion, Sarah carries the embryo to term.
LAURA'S EARLY LIFE
→ For the first thirteen years of her life, is known as “X-23.” Laura is made to live in a plain white room with nothing but a bench in it, and raised to be little more than an animal, having no sense of self.
→ Conditioning for the Trigger scent is started at a young age, through methods such as being submerged in the scent, and electrotherapy.
→ Is reported as physically testing at “peak human condition,” and intelligence and comprehension wise, is “off the charts,” suggesting that she is continuously pushed physically, and constantly educated. Is shown to be trained in martial arts, and demonstrates fluency in Japanese.
→ Sarah gets into contact with her estranged sister, Debbie, and niece, Megan, a young girl the same age as Laura.
→ Wanting the project to move on faster, Rice gets permission from Sutter to prematurely draw out Laura's mutation. He chooses to put her through radiation poisoning, and although it works, she almost dies. After this, Rice removes each of Laura's claws, sharpens them, and coats them in adamantium-all without the uses of anaesthesia.
→ Laura undergoes Weapon X training, and out-performs the original Weapon X data.
→ Kimura is introduced as Laura's handler.
→ Throughout her life, only Sarah and her sensei, Tanaka, treat her as a child. In order to correct this, on her graduation day, Laura is triggered, and kills Tanaka. She is later punished by Kimura for showing remorse and crying.
TEN YEARS OLD
→ Laura is sent on her first field test. She assassinates presidential candidate Greg Johnson, his family, and supporters, in order to advertise what the Facility has to offer. Sarah discovers that the entire reason Laura was created was in order to make money. Initially, the Facility charges fifty-five million dollars per mission completed.
→ Laura goes on a variety of worldwide missions over the course of three years, including locations such as Saudi Arabia, Las Vegas, Colombia, the Congo, Japan, Greece.
THIRTEEN YEARS OLD
→ Laura completes a mission for client Wilson Fisk, killing Dilorenzo and two henchmen, while under the influence of Trigger. She later disposes of Dilorenzo's wife and child.
→ Rice goes along on a mission with Laura. At gunpoint, he makes the helicopter pilot leave, claiming that she didn't reach the rendezvous point in time, and that he saw her die. However, Laura returns of her own accord, and Sarah first notices the X-shaped cuts on her left arm.
→ Sarah gets a phone call from Debra, claiming that Megan's been kidnapped. Sarah takes Laura from the Facility, and uses her to track down Megan and the kidnapper, save her, and make it appear as if he committed suicide. Sarah explains to Debbie that Laura is her daughter, and that they're caught in a “complicated” situation.
→ Rice takes control of the project from Sutter. He sends Laura on a mission to kill Sutter, his wife and child (who Rice is actually well aware is his own son), and make it look like an accident. Despite her training, Laura spares the child's life by hiding him in the woods behind the house as it burns down.
→ Sarah discovers that it is, in fact, Laura self-harming, and not Rice who's been cutting her. Laura manages to explain to Sarah that the accident Martin was killed in was no accident, by hiding a photo of the family inside her mouth.
→ Sarah decides to finally get Laura out of the Facility. Laura assumes it is a mission.
→ Sarah discovers the extent of the project; how Rice is creating X-24 through X-50. Telling Sarah to leave, but visit her “pet” one more time, Rice places Trigger scent in Sarah's hair.
→ Sarah finishes writing a letter to Lara. She draws up documents, disguised as a mission, for their escape. Either Laura or Sarah rig the Facility with bombs. Laura destroys X-24 through X-50, wipes out vast numbers of Facility members, and then beats Rice to death-using only her fists, and not her claws, calling him an “animal.”
→ Laura escapes the Facility just as the bombs detonate, and is triggered. When she comes to, Sarah is laying in the snow, bleeding out. She manages to tell Laura her real name, and that she loves her, before dying. Laura takes Sarah's letter, even though it's too blood-soaked to read.
FOURTEEN YEARS OLD
→ After destroying the Facility, Laura flees to San Francisco.
→ She observes Megan and Debbie, along with her boyfriend, Desmond Alexander for twenty-two days, before moving in with them. Laura befriends Megan, and explains about the Facility, about Trigger, and how she killed Sarah. She also attends high school for the first time, and is sent to the principles office twice in one day: first for explaining, in French, how to gather information, via bribes, torture, and abducting/executing family members, and then later for explaining the twenty-six ways in which to kill a person without leaving signs of an attack.
→ Whilst out with Megan, Laura sees a news report on Xavier's Institute on TV, and so discovers where Wolverine is.
→ Laura and Megan arrive home, and interrupt Desmond, who is actually a Facility memeber, placing the Trigger scent in Debbie's tea; Laura becomes triggered, kills Desmond, and almost kills Megan and Debbie. However, because Megan realises what's happening, she manages to get both her and her mother to the shower in time.
→ The Trigger scent is washed off Laura, and she kills the twenty-seven Facility agents who raid the house. She has her neck broken by Kimura, and then begs her not to kill Megan and Debbie, saying that she'll return to the Facility. Kimura explains that or course she's going to return, but that she needs to kill Megan and Debbie, in order to teach her a lesson. Laura then cuts off her hand in order to save them, and leaves Kimura chained the basement of their house.
→ As she helps Megan and Debbie flee the country, Laura receives a locket from Megan, containing a picture of her and her mother.
FIFTEEN YEARS OLD
→ Laura tracks down Wolverine, and attempts to kill both him and herself. Wolverine, however, won't let her kill herself, and explains that they are more than weapons. He gives Laura a copy of the letter Sarah wrote her.
→ Laura is captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., and interrogated by Captain American and Matt Murdock. Outside a S.H.I.E.L.D substation in Washington, D.C., Captain America agrees to let Laura go free, and takes her to a Greyhound bus station.
→ Laura is finally able to read the letter Sarah wrote her.
→ Laura arrives in New York.
SIXTEEN YEARS OLD
→ Laura becomes a prostitute, working for the pimp Zebra Daddy. She specialises in masochistic clients, and uses her claws to cut them. Is shown to continue self-harming.
→ A regular client tells Laura he wants to try something “new” and commits suicide in front of her. Distressed, Laura remains in the motel room, cutting herself, until a mutant, Kiden Nixon, and her high school teacher, Cameron Palmer turn up. Kiden had been guided there by a vision she had of her dead father (no, really), and so decides to help Laura.
→ Along with Cameron, they eat at a diner, and then return to Cameron's apartment. Laura explains that she didn't kill the John, before Kiden has another vision.
→ For their own safety, because Zebra Daddy's men are now after Laura, Kiden, Laura and Cameron take to living on the streets. After a further vision, they meet another mutant, Tatiana Caban, who has the ability to transform into whatever she touches the blood of. Having been chased down by a mob, Laura manages to subdue her, simply by taking her hand-uh, paw.
→ Eventually, Zebra Daddy and his men catch up with them. Laura initially agrees to go back to him, but only as a means of distraction. She snikts her claws and attacks the men, even beheading one. Zebra Daddy shoots her multiple times in the face, and she appears to be dead. However, just as he is about to kill Kiden, Laura pushes her claws through his chest.
